Amanda, I also asked my contest participants about the price, they would be willing to spend on the product. They said, $ 40 would be a good price.

    Amanda,

after receiving the sample with the 36″/ 48 teeth chainsaw (sorry, I know it is so confusing with all the numbers – that one is the long and fast cutting version, which no other seller offers right now),  I started a contest on the saws. 6 people (male, all outdoor enthusiasts) tested the different lenghts and variation on teeth (24″ versus 36″, 19 teeth in the long version versus 48 teeth) and there was an overwhelming vote for the 36″ / 48 teeth version (from NORDIC seller) with huge distance to the other variations (that one was kind of a no brainer for all of the participants, as I myself found it a bit tough while using, but I am pretty sure, it will mainly be a men’s thing).

As I probably bought the last one available, right now this variation is not offered on AMZ US. The fun thing about the competitor NORDIC, where I bought this saw from is, although he makes such a big deal about the saw being developed in Sweden, this one is also made in China, like all the others, and it was easy to identify the supplier. Therefore the unit price would be by far within my price range, as it is just a bit higher than the 24″ / 33 teeth – 4$ versus 6.10$ without the bonus features. (And I found another supplier for this version as well, so I would not be dependant on just one supplier, but could choose between those.) This seller offers the 24″ /33 teeth saw on AMZ for crazy 49 $ and nevertheless sells a reasonable amount of them, actually 8 per day, although all other competitors with this version have an average price of $ 27.32. When I enter his price into the PAB there is an incredible profit margin of 63% and ROI % 443! This is all about advertising!

Actually, the 36″ / 16 teeth turned out to be the by far least functional in my little contest. Therefore, I meanwhile really doubt, if I should head towards it. Your argument for this version was the price and the amount af sales. On the other hand, all participants in my contest agreed on the 24″ version being too short despite the excellent function. If I go for the 36″ / 48 tooth saw and I halve the price of the NORDIC saw to something like 35 $ – 39 $, would this price still be reasonable, compared to average $ 23.99 for the 36″ / 16 teeth?

    • it would give me a profit margin of 47% and an ROI of 174%, setting the price with 35 $ (the NORDIC price is 69 $)
    • right now, I would be the only one of this version to be sold on AMZ (but I guess, NORDIC just ran out of stock with this variation), this would give me something special about the product, something to stand out from most of the competitors
    • I could introduce the product and score with a really great promotion (I will work with Rebecca on my listing, as I have the feeling, I am not so talented on this, and I am still struggeling with my English)

Considering all these arguments, would you still stick to your recommendation for the 36″ / 16 teeth or would you agree on starting selling the 36″ / 48 teeth variation (you see, where I kind of tend to ;-), as I am very insecure about this decision, but it is so important for me, and I really rate your expertise absolutely high, I would appreciate your honest opinion very much one more time (although meanwhile I am probably getting on your nerves with this) – thank you so much in advance! 🙂

Isaac, this is not about doing what I want, your arguments are comprehensible, and I participate in this training because of my expectations and willingness to learn and profit from your experience (and, of course, your willingness to share your expertise). Your thoughts and comments are more than welcome, especially, as I am a newcomer in the AMZ business and, fortunately, up to now did not have to experience bad sales etc. This is about the congruency of your material and about my questions arising from it. As I am (of course) pretty insecure concerning my ‘opinion’ while evaluating those important numbers, I really appreciate your guidance – thanks a lot!

Hi Isaac, thanks for your comment. The funny part of it is, that I did not even know the expression ‘outlier’ before having watched Mod 4 Product Analysis, section 4, PAB 1 Market Research from Kirsty. She explicitly gives the hint to exclude outliers from the counts and shows examples for it. I watched this video about 5 times, as this for me was the most difficult part to understand over all your training videos. From what I learned there, this is the point, where my personal evaluation should come into the ‘game’, as I have to decide, where I want to go, with whom and with which product I want to compete. I see your position, when you say, that you do not recommend leaving out any number, as this really changes the ‘game’. I understand the importance of the market research. But these numbers only affect my launching costs, and those are driven extremely high, when I also consider the discussed outliers, which will lead to the effect that I might have way too much units in stock with my first order (and the fees for stocking will add to the high launching costs), on the other hand it would be simple, reordering units, when I observe within the first few days and weeks, that I sell more than expected. Therefore I came to the conclusion, that Kirsty’s outlier advice is worth gold, if you evaluate the ‘picture’ correctly. Furthermore, we discussed the outlier issue several times in the group, although the others are not ‘my business’, you should be aware that probably everybody fills out the spreadsheets under the given advice. Nevertheless, I reevaluated this product without removing any data, and it would look like as follows HERE

Would appreciate your feedback on it as well as on the issue, discussed above – thanks!

Hi Regan, thanks a lot for checking on my product opportunity. I also took JS for my initial research, there werde several sponsored ads, which I left out (but that was a bit confusing, as they were not only at the top of the page), and there is one outlier in reviews, which, according to the training module of Kirsty, I also skipped. I redid the search with the H-10 tool, which even made it look better, and therefore – finally – I hope, that I am on a good way. I would head to Alibaba research right now, and then go briefing my SA – hopefully with your OK!? Thanks you so much! (Makes me totally happy now 🙂

Regan, thanks again for taking care. As I had these numbers in mind (20.000 / 100.000), I thought it would be important to consider them for choosing a product, and I wondered if there exists a different approach besides of brand analytics – that’s it. But your reply is satisfactory, very appreciated 🙂

Regan, thanks for your reply. Probably I got it wrong, while thinking that Search Frequency would be equivalent to search volume. I think it was Isaac, who said, that > 100.000 is not good but < 20.000 is very good. So, what exactly did he mean with those numbers, is this the search frequency ranking? And how can I figure out the search frequency ranking with JS? I appreciate your help!

Wow, Amanda, I am very impressed, it took me quite a while to confirm the master keyword Camping Utensil set, find attached the LINK

to the keyword research. The calculation with this keyword follows HERE

The product I like is way more down on the first page – I consider this as not bad!? With the ‘new’ KW, competition with just 5 sellers >10.000 could work. Still pretty expensive product. Thanks so much for your precious time evaluating my stuporous beginner efforts 😉  very appreciated!
